Welcome to Franklin Elementary
School! It is my pleasure to be the Principal of one of the finest
schools you will ever find. The entire staff is dedicated to doing
what is best for all students. Our school has attained several
achievements that have been recognized at the State level. We have
reached the Standards of Excellence in Math for three years in a row
(2003, 2004, 2005) and the Standards of Excellence in Reading in 2005.
Franklin Elementary, too, is the recipient of the Challenge Award for
2002, 2003, and 2005. This award is for schools that have made
tremendous gains with the achievement of at-risk student, which our entire
district has been acknowledged at the State as well as the National level
for this type of accomplishment. In 2003 one of our teachers was
awarded the State’s Horizon Award, which is for the Outstanding First Year
Teacher of the Year in our region.
Our
teaching approach is based on integrating all subjects across the
curriculum. This approach actively involves children in making decisions
about what and how they learn within the framework of the district
curriculum. This philosophy accepts children where they are and then
extends their experiences to build their skills. We focus on what
the students can do rather than what they cannot do. As the student
experiences success, it becomes evident there is an increase in
self-confidence.
Franklin School, too, has a strong family support program, which assists
parents and students with academic, behavioral, and/or attendance
concerns. We strongly believe that it takes a team approach to
assist children in developing into successful individuals.
Our
school is committed to doing what is in the best interest of all children.
We have an after school program that focuses primarily on extended
practice with reading and math. Our PTO is a strong contributor with
financing activities in recognition of individual achievements and it
sponsors family nights throughout the year. Our school conducts a
Schools in Review Night in May that enables parents to experience some of
the activities their children have been involved during the regular school
year.
Enjoy your visit to Franklin School where we are
shaping the future one child at a time!
